The age of information technology is here with us and would be staying with us forever. Through IT the world is becoming smaller and smaller with each passing day in what is known as GLOBAL VILLAGE. Therefore, formal education should not be the only gateway for one to acquire ICT knowledge. Increase in Internet usage for instance has been identified to bring more people together (e.g. social networking such as face book etc.) as well boost economic activities. Employment opportunities become abound as more people communicate through the various media of the IT world. Adding more people into this IT age in a country like Ghana would require basic computer knowledge which most people cannot afford through formal education.

The duration for the computer training is 6 weeks within which participants will be taught the basis of MS Office suite which includes MS Word, MS Excel, Access, Publisher and Power Points as well as hardware skills and networking. The training also includes courses in basic project management principles and a day's seminar on fire safety delivered by officials of the Ghana fire service.
